Dr. Rosekind at 2015 NAPT Summit

Mark R. Rosekind, Ph.D. was sworn in as the 15th Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on December 22, 2014. He was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Administrator Rosekind is a passionate safety professional dedicated to enhancing transportation safety for the traveling public. In his role as Administrator, Dr. Rosekind is pursuing NHTSA’s core safety mission of saving lives, preventing injuries, and reducing crashes through all of the tools at NHTSA’s disposal — including enforcement authority, public awareness campaigns, support of technical innovation, and research into human behavior.

Be Impressed at the 2015 NAPT Summit

Member Christopher A. Hart was sworn in as Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board on March 17, 2015. He was originally sworn in as a Member of the Board on August 12, 2009 and designated by the President as Vice Chairman on August 18, 2009. In August 2013, President Obama nominated him for a second term as Board Member and after Senate confirmation of his nomination, the President, in October 2013, designated him for a third term as Vice Chairman. He has served as Acting NTSB Chairman since April 26, 2014.

Hart joined the Board after a long career in transportation safety, including a previous term as a Member of the NTSB. Immediately before returning to the Board in 2009, Member Hart was Deputy Director for Air Traffic Safety Oversight at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He was previously the FAA Assistant Administrator for System Safety.

Be Motivated at the 2015 NAPT Summit

Siphiwe Baleka, a graduate of Yale University and the first African American named to the All-Ivy League Swim Team, is the Driver Health and Fitness Coach at transportation carrier, Prime Inc. While driving for Prime and completing a three year lease, Siphiwe became a two time national masters swimming champion and a competitive age group triathlete, earning him the unofficial title of the “Fittest Truck Driver in America.” His innovative driver health and fitness programs have won numerous awards, and in 2014, his efforts earned Prime the “Healthiest Company Award” at the 2014 CES/Digital Health Summit.

Siphiwe is already becoming a unique “fitness” icon. His own personal journey from being an elite athlete at a young age through college gives him solid athletic credentials. His Yale University education gives him solid educational credentials. According to Siphiwe, his mission is to “reverse the trend of poor health among commercial truck drivers by creating a culture of fitness within the industry.”
