RAGBRAI: Oskaloosa to Fairfield (July 26)

The time, distance, heat, hills, and wind are taking its toll on everyone. People are moody and not communicating.

During the first half of the trip everyone was very good with their calls. “Passing left, car up, car back, rider up.” These calls help keep everyone safe; communication keeps everyone safe. This simple communication makes the day go faster and the ride seem easier.

The same can be said about communication in any situation. Make an effort to communicate the small things and you will see positive results.

RAGBRAI: Knoxville to Oskaloosa (July 25)

Each day we passed through multiple towns on our way to the final destination. Each town has its own theme and each is unique to the people and town history. As we approached Pella, IA, signs read: “So Dutch It Hurts.”

In the town just before Oskaloosa, we saw mini-horses.

Ride stats: 53.6 miles; 2700 ft of climb; Hills.

We Successfully Finished RAGBRAI 2013

What a great experience from start to finish. We are physically and emotionally exhausted. Based on the tracking app I used, we went about 451 miles during the event.

Thoughts are still processing. I am working on some additional wrap up blogs.
